‘The Moira Monologues’ + ‘More Moira Monologues’

Alan Bissett brings both of his hilarious plays and huge Fringe hits back to Falkirk as part of the Falkirk Storytelling Festival 2019.

“I first wrote and performed my ‘one-woman show’ The Moira Monologues in 2009, my comedy about Falkirk’s hardest woman – and since then, against all our expectations, it proved to be my most popular show, and Moira my most enduring character. She’s strutted her stuff on stages across the length and breadth of Scotland and beyond.  The show has enjoyed sell-out runs at Edinburgh Fringe, which brought back to me how much I love the character and how well audiences respond to her.”

Join us on home turf with Moira Bell – single mum, cleaner, hardest woman in Falkirk. Time for Moira to light up a fag and tell her BFF Babs the score.

The Moria Monologues bursts back onto the Falkirk scene on Thursday 3rd October. Alan Bissett’s no-nonsense scheme queen returns to the stage with sass and aplomb. More Moira Monologues can also be found at Behind The Wall on Sunday evening 6th October and will help bring this year’s Falkirk Storytelling Festival to a close. .

Very quickly it’s easy to see Moira as the voice of reason, and to see the world from her perspective.

Bissett’s one man / woman shows are addictive. Switching between characters and accents at an astonishing pace, he immerses the audience in Moira’s world. Great hilarity, simple truths and some profound moments too: it’s no wonder Moira has such a loyal following.

By tickets for each individual show at this year’s festival or take advantage of the special ticket offer for both plays by picking up tickets from the venue.

This is brilliant stuff’’ (Scotsman). ‘It’s a sometimes scary pleasure to spend an evening in Moira’s company’ (Independent). ‘Moira’s a legend. A hilarious but subtly smart work that takes society slowly apart’ **** (Skinny).
