As part of the Festival we will be collecting books for rural libraries in Kawangware, Nairobi, Kenya.
The libraries support the children and their families giving them access to knowledge, and offering opportunities to read for pleasure, which they otherwise would not have. The specific library that we are collecting for this year is the Gacharag’eini Community Library in Muranga District
Gacharag’eini is an agricultural community which is mostly involved in tea production, which makes the area vulnerable to ups and downs in the market for this commodity. A shift to a broader agricultural base is desireable, and underway. The library aims to help with this transformation by providing access to knowledge and information.
If you have good condition books that you no longer need, at home or in work, please drop these off to The Howgate Shopping Centre Help Desk, until 30 September.
